Canal Day – October 3, 2026

NRPS is pleased to announce the next annual Canal Day on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  We will be offering a full schedule of entertainment, including music and a children’s activity area.  Our event is held on Second Street, from Walnut Street to Mulberry Street.

NRPS establishes the following vendor guidelines: 

  • NPRS welcomes a variety of businesses, individuals, nonprofits, and churches as vendors. Any merchandise sold at the event is required to be new or upcycled.
  • This event is rain or shine. Refunds will not be given because of weather conditions or vendor cancellations.
  • The fee for one 10-foot by 10-foot space is $25. Canopies and stands larger than this size require two or more spaces. Electricity is available on a limited basis for an additional $10.
  • Returning vendors will be given their 2025 assigned locations for space reservation forms received by August 31st. Please note if an alternate location is desired.
  • Special requests may be accommodated based on order received.
  • Set up time will be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on October 3rd. All vehicles must be removed from the square by 8:30 a.m. Parking will be available along nearby streets, parking lots and alleys.
  • Vendors are responsible for all equipment needs for their spaces. Canopies with weights are encouraged.
  • NRPS will provide vendor spaces at their discretion.

To reserve a space, print the space reservation form in Word or PDF and send check or cash to NRPS, PO Box 13, Newport, PA 17074.  Forms may be dropped off at Primitive Pastime (formerly Carpetbagger Collectibles), 12 South 2nd Street, Newport. We will confirm receipt of your application if an email address is provided.

Please reserve by August 31, 2026.  We will continue accept vendors after this date as space allowsplease contact Laura Campbell to confirm if space is available. Parking

Vendors and visitors will find parking throughout the downtown area. Please be sure to look for 2-hour parking on certain blocks. For additional parking lots, visit this Google map.

On Stage Entertainment and Dedications

Bring a chair and enjoy the following entertainment! Our stage is located on North Second Street in front of Orrstown Bank and The Jewel Box.

9 am: Newport High School athletes, cheerleaders and band will kick the day off with a pep rally!
10 am: Darkside on Tap performs classic and modern rock and roll favorites.
11 am: Dedication of the Newport mural by Jeff Copus.
11:45 am: The Perry-Juniata Jazz Band plays the classics!
12:35 pm: Memorial dedication in honor of Jeff Mattern by the Newport Lions Club.
12:45 pm: Darkside on Tap returns to the stage to end the day.

Children’s Activities

We have fun activities for children of all ages!

South Second Street

The Newport Fire Department will be offering bucket rides for a bird’s eye view of Newport!

While you are in line for a bucket ride, meet dogs available for adoption from the Perry County Animal Rescue.

A balloon artist will wow from 10 am to 1 pm – sponsored by Comp’s Barber Shop, David M. Myers Furniture Store and Sweet to the Soul.

North Second Street – Between Dock and Mulberry Streets

Get ready to jump! Our bounce house is sponsored by Newport Assembly of God and W.J. Moore Insurance.

Hope and Hooves Rescue & Sanctuary will have the cutest animals for pictures and petting!

Be sure to visit the Newport Public Library, the Perry County Literacy Council, Newport Cub Scouts Pack 93, and Paper Pie.

Information for Vendors

Click this link – 2025 Canal Day Vendors – for space assignments.  Signs will be posted during set up to show names and space numbers. Volunteers will be in the square to help find your location.  This event is held rain or shine.

Set up time will be from 7 am to 9 am. All vehicles must be removed by 8:30 am. Tables and chairs are not provided.  The spaces will accommodate a 10 x 10 canopy with straight legs. We strongly encourage weights for your canopy.

Vendor parking is available throughout downtown Newport. See visit this Google map. In addition, parking is available along nearby streets.
